Myschool is an online Information System aimed at the computer support of school units and administrativestructures of education. It is used for the organization and administration of a school unit, carrying out all its tasks,as well as for the control by the regional structures and the Ministry of Education. The main services it offers arethe central database that automatically accepts the data entered by the school units, the secretarial support of theKindergartens, Primary Schools, Gymnasiums, Lyceums and Vocational Lyceums of the country, the access tospecific data of the central database by the Prefectures and Regional Directorates of Education for their monitoringand further utilization and the support of the conduct of the Panhellenic Examinations through the electronicregistration of the preferences of the candidates and the support of the grading centers. The purpose of this researchis to record the views of teachers serving in the schools of Secondary Education (Gymnasiums, Lyceums andVocational Lyceums) regarding the usability, friendliness and functionality of the Management InformationSystem "myschool" in relation to gender, in the administrative operation of secondary schools in Greece(Economou, G. & Georgopoulos, N. 2004).

Factors Affecting Academic Performance of Students in Higher Education in Eritrea

This study focuses on determining the factors that affect the academic performance of undergraduate students in Institutions of Higher Education in Eritrea. A survey was conducted among 300 students from three colleges (Eritrean Institute of Technology, College of Arts and Social Sciences, and College of Business and Economics). The survey research design was employed using a self-administered questionnaire as the data collection instrument. The items measuring the constructs were adapted from the extant literature. Data was analyzed using regression test. The findings of this study reveal that admission points and personal factors affect the academic performance of students. However, no evidence was found that college environment and socio-economic factors influence students’ academic performance.

Challenges Faced by Students in Completing a MOOC

This study was conducted to explore the challenges faced by students in completing a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course). Participants selected for this study were restricted to post graduate students only who came from Iraq, Malaysia, Somalia and Oman. The number of students selected for this research was 6 with two master’s students and four PhD students. MOOC is having problem of low completion rates and this is a big issue all over the world now. Despite the growing interest in MOOCs, the vast majority of students who have enrolled in MOOCs do not finish the courses. Hence, the purpose of the study is aimed at looking at the challenges faced by students in completing MOOCs. Qualitative mode was used for this study and all the students were interviewed for data gathering. The results indicated that the problems students faced in completing MOOCs are in terms of MOOC content, MOOC activity, MOOC design, MOOC instructors, accessibility and cost.

Solid Waste Management Awareness and Practices Among Senior High School Students in a State College, Zamboanga City, Philippines

Solid waste management is one of the challenges faced by many countries. Poor solid waste management will lead to various problems in health, environment and socio-economic aspects. Since, educational institution is an agent of change and through R.A. No. 9003, solid waste management concepts are being integrated in science education. In this study, descriptive – quantitative approach was utilized using the researcher made instrument - Solid Waste Management Awareness and Practices Questionnaire (SWMAPQ). A total of 332 Grade 12 students participated in the study from a State College, of which 68 are Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) students, 166 are Technical Vocational Livelihood (TVL) students and 98 are General Academic Strand (GAS) students. Results shows that students have enough knowledge in terms on definition of solid waste, effect of improper solid waste disposal, solid waste prohibited activities, school initiatives towards solid waste, importance of solid waste management and students’ responsibilities. However, students have low knowledge on the different laws relevant to solid waste management. Television or radio, parents and social media are the sources of these awareness. The result also shows that students have good solid waste management practices in terms on segregation, reduction, reuse, recycle and disposal.

Practices and Challenges of Students’ Assessment in ECCE

This study examined the practices and challenges of students’ assessment in ECCE in government primary schools (specifically “O”-class teachers) in Dehana Woreda, Ethiopia. To achieve the purposes, qualitative research approach with case study design was used. The researches purposively selected five (5) clusters from a total of 13 and five (5) government primary schools from a total of 15in the Woreda. From those sample schools, five (5) teachers from a total of 10 “O”-class teachers and five principals from a total of eight (8) primary school principals were selected purposively. Semi-structured interviews were used as tools of data collection. Besides, the researchers used document and observation checklist to collect data to triangulate and complement the data collected through interview. The collected data were analyzed thematically using direct quotation, narration, paraphrasing and interpretive analysis techniques.The results revealed that though teachers and principals have the knowhow of the concepts of assessment, they lack the knowledge of purposes of assessment, principles of assessment and multiple methods and areas of assessment. Concerning their assessment practices, they mainly assess children’s learning progress in every fifteen (15) days at a regular session through tests and observation. Hence, the practices related to ECCE assessment were limited. Finally, it is recommended that, government offices, colleges and universities shall work to create awareness and give training to “O” class teachers and principals to improve their knowhow and practice of children’s learning assessment.
